What is Reiki Healing?

The gentle, energy-based reset your soul didn’t know it needed

You’ve probably heard it by now — “Reiki this, Reiki that…” It’s all over your feed, your friend swears by it and you’re over here like, “Okay but… what actually is this Reiki healing everyone’s vibing about?”

Fair question.

To put it simply, Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is like energetic first aid for your soul. It’s a Japanese energy healing technique that channels universal life force energy — the stuff that flows through all living things. When that energy gets low, blocked or out of whack (thanks, life), we can feel stressed, disconnected or just off. Reiki helps clear those blocks, bringing your body and energy back into balance.

And the best part? You don’t have to chant, stretch or even talk about your feelings. You just lie down, close your eyes, and let the magic do its thing.

So, what actually happens in a Reiki session?

A session feels like pressing pause on the outside world and hitting reset on the inside. You stay fully clothed and either lie down or sit comfortably while the practitioner (hi, that’s me!) gently places their hands on or just above your body. You might feel a sense of warmth, tingling or just melt into a blissful nap. Some people have emotional releases, others simply leave feeling lighter — like someone energetically dusted off their insides.

There’s no pressure to “feel” anything specific. Reiki works whether you believe in it or not — it’s like Wi-Fi for your soul: invisible, but powerful when you’re connected.

Some of the magic Reiki can offer:

• Deep relaxation and nervous system support

• Releasing emotional heaviness or energetic baggage

• Balancing chakras and restoring natural flow

• Increased clarity, peace and intuitive connection

• Better sleep and a general feeling of ahhh, yes… that’s better

Reiki Treatment

It’s also a beautiful companion to other healing work — whether you’re doing therapy, spiritual work, or just figuring things out one breath at a time.

Reiki in the modern world — yes, even hospitals are on board

If you’re still wondering whether Reiki is just “woo,” you might be surprised to know that it’s increasingly being integrated into mainstream healthcare — including hospitals, hospices and cancer centres around the world.

Yep, you read that right. Reiki is now used in medical environments as a complementary therapy to support patients with stress relief, anxiety reduction and pain management. In fact, many nurses and healthcare professionals are trained in Reiki and use it alongside conventional treatment to help patients feel more calm, supported and comfortable during recovery.

It’s especially recognised for its benefits in:

• Reducing stress and anxiety before or after surgery

• Supporting pain relief during treatment or physical recovery

• Creating a sense of emotional calm for patients in high-stress or palliative care environments

Reiki doesn’t replace medical care — but it absolutely supports the healing process on an energetic, emotional and mental level. And more and more medical practitioners are acknowledging just how powerful that support can be.

So whether you’re coming in for a session to reset your energy after a tough week, or you’re navigating something bigger — like grief, illness or burnout — Reiki is a safe and supportive tool to bring you back into alignment.

Why I include Reiki in my sessions

Reiki isn’t just something I offer — it’s something I live and trust. In my sessions, I blend Reiki with other modalities and techniques like crystal and vibrational healing along with colour therapy and other energy work, so you receive a multi-layered, intuitive experience that meets your energy exactly where it’s at. Its like a spa treatment for your energy. This session I offer is called Soulful Touch.

Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected or just in need of a spiritual recharge, Reiki helps bring you back to your true self — no crystals or incense required (but we can absolutely bring those too).
